On this day...

Is anyone else spending the day sobbing? The gravity of Obama being sworn in to office of the President of the U.S. is overwhelming me. This feels like the most hopeful day in my lifetime, at least.

I've heard many Americans saying that it has taken us so long to get to this point. Interestingly, most European I have spoken to about Obama remark about how quickly this change has happened. How in 45 years the nation has gone from segregation to a black man becoming president. In the big picture, this has happened in the blink of an eye.

I feel so lucky to be around on this day.

I did get teary-eyed during his speech, but since then I've been walking on air. I can't tell you how excited I am to watch the news every night, to see President Obama (I love the sound of that!) sign the order to close Gitmo, sign the order to enforce transparency in government, welcome 200 average citizens into the peoples' house, call middle eastern heads of state to express concern about the Palestinian citizens, talk to his military advisors about drawing down troops in Iraq, introduce secretary of state Clinton to the state department and they break out in a spontaneous, raucus standing ovation....and that's just the first two days. Bob says if he keeps going like this, in two years he'll be done with everything! I love President Obama. Did I tell you I got to look into his eyes and shake his hand? I just love our new President.
